Music In The Parks Festival

The Sheldon High Bands, Jazz Bands and Orchestra a have been invited to attend the Music In The Parks Festival in Santa Clara, California, on Saturday, May 15, 2010. The Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, and Orchestra will perform, participate in clinics, and enjoy Great America!

The itinerary for the trip is as follows:

Saturday, May 15, 2010

7:00AM. Depart Sheldon for Milpitas H.S.
9:30AM Music In The Parks Festival
6:00PM Awards Presentation, Great
7:00PM Depart Great America
9:30PM Arrive at Sheldon High School

The music groups here at Sheldon continue to grow and develop into mature - sounding ensembles, and part of the growth is a result of hard work on the part of the students, and the extra concerts and festivals that the bands and orchestra attend.

The cost of the trip will be $55.00. Because of fundraising efforts this year, student will not be charged for transportation.

Please contact myself if you are interested in being a Chaperone on this trip. The cost includes the festival, awards and admission to Great America. We need to finalize our numbers for festival packages, and transportation.

If your son/daughter are planning to go, we need a $35.00 non-refundable deposit by Friday, February 12, 2010.

The payment schedule will be as follows:

Folsom Jazz Festival

Congratulations to the Tuesday-Thursday Jazz band for their superior performance at the Folsom Jazz Festival. Outstanding soloist medals went to Scott Weller, Guitar and Eugene Harris, Drums.

The Jazz Band travels next weekend to the Columbia College Jazz Festival, followed by a concert that evening in Sonora Hills, California.

Molly Steuber a hit in Kansas City!

In addition to playing flute and snare drum in the Symphonic and Marching Bands, Molly Steuber is also a competitive drummer for the Sacramento Pipe Band, a Bagpipe and Drum group directed by our own Liz Tubbs! Molly competed in the Winter Storm - Midwest Highland Arts competition in Kansas City this weekend. There were over 100 drummers competing and Molly took FIRST PLACE in the New Drum category and THIRD PLACE overall! Congratulations to Molly and Mrs. Tubbs- hope they get a chance to enjoy the BBQ in Kansas City!
